John Higgins, a former Saturday Night Live writer and performer, is joining the cast of Scrubs for a major recurring role in the second season of the ABC revival. Higgins, known for his work in the comedy group Please Don't Destroy, will play Grant, the new Chief Resident who is envisioned as a thorn in J.D.'s side. This role is reminiscent of Higgins' own experience as a resident, mirroring his relationship with Dr. Cox. The addition of Higgins to the cast has been well-received by his fellow cast members, particularly Donald Faison, who praised his and Ava Bunn's performances. Bunn, who plays intern Tosh, is also being promoted to a series regular in Season 2. Higgins joins fellow recurring cast member Keyla Monterroso Mejia as surgical nurse Mimi. The show's original creator, Bill Lawrence, is returning as an executive producer, alongside stars John Braff, Donald Faison, and Sarah Chalke. The revival will air on ABC on Wednesdays, September 30, and stream the next day on Hulu.
